Staff and committee |
At present we have two members of staff, and a management committee of 11 people.
The formal name of the management committee is the Grove Neighbourhood Council. This name goes back to 1973, when the Grove Neighbourhood Council was established as part of a nationwide project to set up local neighbourhood councils in urban areas. (For more on our history, see Background.) The committee meets monthly, and oversees the running of the GNC. It receives monthly reports from the staff and from the Treasurer. |
|
How the committee is formed |
The management committee can have a maximum of 20 members. They
must live in the area served by the GNC. This is the area lying between
Goldhawk Road and King Street, which has Paddenswick Road and Ravenscourt Road
as its Western boundary, and Richford Street, Grove Mews and Hammersmith
Grove as its Eastern boundary. Up to four members of the committee may be
coopted who live outside this area but who are active at the GNC, eg. as
organisers, teachers, or members of a user group.
Nominations of people who would like to serve on the committee are received every two years. If there are more nominations than the maximum number of committee members, an election is held. The electors are the residents of the area defined above. The next round of nominations will be in September 2009. If there are vacancies on the committee, new members can be coopted at any time. Every year, the committee elects its Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. |

How to join the committee |
At the moment we have vacancies and would welcome new members. Anyone who would like to join us should just contact the GNC for further information. Attending a monthly committee meeting as an observer is often a helpful way of getting an idea of the committee's work. |
