The need

The Good Neighbours Project meets a very real need in the area. Clients
of the project are housebound, or isolated by disability. They ask for someone
to visit them on a regular basis, to have a friendly chat or read to them,
help with the shopping and other odd jobs, take them out in a wheelchair,
or accompany them on a hospital visit.

Good Neighbours volunteers

Volunteers are welcomed onto the project, and matched to a client as soon as
possible. Before being taken on, volunteers are asked to provide character references.
They are given special training where needed, and attend meetings of the volunteer
support group. They make their own arrangements for seeing their clients, and report
back regularly to the Project Worker.
